Al-Nasr Club which was founded in 20/5/1972 and was re-declared in 26/6/2002 is one of the oldest Omani clubs. It is one of Dhofar Governorate clubs specifically, the city of Salalah. The idea began in the sixties, and most accurately, the end of the sixties, when the young men of Al-Haffa used to meet to play football in order to establish a club containing all the young men of Al-Haffa. Indeed, they agreed to establish a club and they used to play football at the beach area of Al-Haffa district.
In 1970, the team was called Al-Nasr and a piece of land next to the sea and close to Al Hisn Palace wasconsidered as a headquarter of Al-Nasr Club. The play ground was dirt and lacks club requirements. The desire and insistence of those young men made this club continue and the club indeed continued. In 1972 Al-Nasr Club was merged with Al-Shate`a Team to carry the name of Al-Nasr. With this merger Al-Nasr Club moved from Al Haffa region (now, Al Haffa School) to Aljouf region, the current headquarter of Al-Nasr Club. Al-Nasr continued as a great club and in 1979 the club participated in the Omani League as it was the first competition including all regions of the Sultanate and Al-Nasr won the championship. In the same year, Al-Nasr won the championship of the governorate and was followed the next year with the league in 1980. Al-Nasr continued to be first in competitions and never missed any champion.

Sheikh Thamer Bin Saeed Al Shanfari, the president of the club, is one of the leading sports figures in the Sultanate and one of the main backers of the club through sport achievements during his presidency which s still going on up to now.
Club most important achievements:
Al-Nasr Club is one of the most prominent clubs in the Sultanate, most popular and the most club to win championships in various sports. Al-Nasr won many championships having won the Omani
League for five times:
1980, 1981, 1989, 1998 and 2004.
Al-Nasr Club won Sultan Qaboos Cup four times: 1995, 2000, 2002 and 2005. It also won the Omani Elite League one time in 2002 and won Autumn Cup five times including three successive times: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2007 and 2008. At the level of the juvenile football team, it won two championships at the level of the Sultanate, one at the level of juvenile teams and one at the level of the young team. However, it won many championships in other sports such as hockey, basketball, table tennis, athletics, handball and other different sports. Besides, the club has achieved many accomplishments on the cultural, artistic and social level. On the regional level, the club participated in the football teams Cooperation Council two championships, participated twice on the Asian level and reached the second round of Asian Cup Winner`s Cup. Regarding juvenile team, the Club participated in March Championship that was held in Bahrain in 1986 and achieved the fourth position. Finally, Al-Nasr Club participated in the Arab Champions League.
The club also won hockey league in 2008. Al-Nasr Club is one of the clubs that never missed the first division league in Oman and remained one of the pillars of the premier league along its history and never played in either the second or the third division.
